Triumph! Black Glue Part 2............

Well, after two tries, I made a batch of black glue with Elmer's and black acrylic paint and my 3rd grade classes used it for their owl projects. Here is what it looked like before color was added. Here is the project in progress.

And here are some finished owls.

I really didn't see much difference between the consistency of the India Ink and the black acrylic paint added to the white glue. The raised effect I was hoping for did not happen, but the kids were thrilled with the outcome so I'm happy too. I wonder what would happen if I tried it with clear glue? Hmmm.........................

These owls are beautiful.
The black glue makes the colors appear brighter.

Fantastic textures and colors

They owls look good! - how many bottles did you have to fill? I'm curious as to whether the leftover glue will remain in a liquid state in the bottle or harden up and have to be thrown away.

Phyl,
I filled 30 bottles each with glue plus black acrylic paint AND another 30 with India Ink. They both turned out very similarly when they dried. I am going to try to use them in another project in the near future before they have a chance to harden and dry up. Any suggestions?

fantastic! dreading filling glue bottles (one of my most hated art teacher chores) but can't wait to give this project a shot.

The owls are beautiful! I did a "dry-run" for a future project idea with black tempera and glue and it is still ready to go after about a month.
Love the bold lines graphic shapes of these!

Thanks for all of the positive feedback! I can't wait to try using the black glue again with some kind of animal project. Zebras, maybe?

I love, love, love the owls!!!!! I think I might have to try that myself (maybe I'll let my children play, too ;)

Pat, Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving such a kind offer! I know I'm going to find lots of inspiration here . . . :)

And I just have to say -- hi Phyl! :) (I feel like I "know" you well enough to do that. Hope you don't mind, Pat:)It's fun "running into people" in blogland :)

Hi~
I have colored glue with the inner felt core of Mr. Sketch markers. I have made many different colored glues this way. I just remove the felt core and put it in the bottle and let it sit overnight and shake it up in the morning.
The paint may water the glue down but the marker just "stains" the glue so you get a great raised effect. Just thought I'd share that idea.
