First grade humor

So this morning, as my first group of first graders was coming into the art room, one little boy took a look at me and said, "You have hair!" This was when I knew I had been wearing too many buns, chignons, up-dos etc.!!!
I think this is what he saw!

It has been so stinkin' hot here in Iowa/Nebraska that I'm only comfortable with my hair up off of my neck, but I didn't realize that the littles just assumed I had short hair! It made my morning and gave me a good belly laugh!

What's with the Iowa/Nebraska? You can't be in both, can you?

How long has your hair gotten? Mine has turned into quite a mop and I hardly head out without it tied up either. But hopefully when the weather cools more I can let it loose. I think the fastest way to lose some weight would be. To chop off a foot of it! But no buns/chignons for me- its more likely to be a pony tail. My hair is straight and slippery and hard to keep up, plus I get annoyed with it an hour into the day and start tugging at it.. It looks like yours is curlier so it probably isn't as slippery.

Ha! Phyl! My hair is SO straight, no curls. I would say that it has reached the midway point of my shoulder blades. It isn't turning white fast enough, gosh darnit! And yes, I live in Omaha and teach in Council Bluffs,IA, just across the Missouri river bridge-about 25 minutes door to door (I drive FAST:)

Kids say the darnedest things don't they? A few years ago, a 1st grader told me I needed to fix my hair. Thinking something was mussed up (I too usually tie it up to keep out of my face) I asked him what was wrong. He said it was all different colors (primarily shades of gray with a few strands of brown hanging in there) and it was supposed to be all one color - "You need to fix it!"
Since I had strands of gray back in 7th grade, there was no WAY I was going to spend all that money & time to 'fix it'!!!

Bless. They are so observant, aren't they! I wear mine up most of the time too - Who wants paint in their hair?? - so when I do wear it down, kids AND adults will comment on it! Love the drawing as it's exactly how I feel sometimes!
